Synopsis

That first encounter with Robert in rural Romania at eleven. A summer spent together in the same setting a year later. Their first text exchange in high school. The first sexual experience. The first heartbreak—the second and third and fourth chance. The point of total breakdown and the despair of failing. More love than anyone could have warned him about.

No matter how much time passes, no matter how different their paths, every meeting brings Edi and Robert closer together. Those stolen moments shine brighter than any. Yet loving Robert is not easy, not when Edi wants to be true to himself and is met with dishonesty. Or when Robert keeps parading new conquests and ignores Edi more often than not.

Edi has always loved Robert, but he must decide if his journey leads to or away from his childhood friend. Is it true love or is Edi just unable to let go?

Excerpt

What a big jerk. I frowned at the new boy and he must have noticed because he tilted his head and stared at me. His smirk still in place, he winked before returning his attention to the game.

“Who’s that other kid playing with Nicu?” I asked after bumping my shoulder into Tatiana’s to get her attention.

“That’s our cousin, Robert,” she said, smiling all adoringly at him. “He’s from Bucharest.”

I rolled my eyes at that tidbit. Just great, another brat from the capital! The other Bucharest kid was staying with the neighbors on the other side of my grandma’s house. He was full of himself, he had a funny walk, and I wanted to punch him right in the face every time I saw him. What was it with these kids from the Capital, anyway? They thought they were better than the rest just because of the city they’d been born into.

Robert and Nicu played until the younger one was thoroughly defeated. Nicu begged Robert for a rematch, but he refused. Holding the ball against his right hip, he turned to face me. “What about you, kid? Wanna be the next one I beat?”

I wanted to tell him where to shove that ball of his, but I stopped myself. I probably shouldn’t get into another fight. I might be shipped to the other grandparents for the rest of the summer. Or worse, get my ass kicked by this older kid.

dawn-to-dusk-3D-render

“Nah, too hot to play now anyways.”

“Are you a chicken?” Robert asked. His mocking tone angered me, but not as much as his stupid cousins parroting the “chicken” part and laughing at me. I glared at him and then at Tatiana. I didn’t care about Nicu, but her taking her cousin’s side stung. Well, he was family, but still. He’d refused to play with her. The snotty traitor!

“Fine, you ass. I’ll play.”

I pushed myself up and dragged my feet through the grass. I jumped over the ditch and walked to the middle of the court side Nicu had been in. The bastard Robert had the advantage, I had the sun in my eyes.

I’d watched them play, though. He’d beaten Nicu because he was stronger and a bit faster. But he had no finesse with the ball. I spent most of my time outside, running and playing. Somehow, this smug pretty boy seemed to be into different things. Probably kissing girls and going to the movies and other stupid shit.

He acted all nice and let me serve. I took full advantage of it and showed him what I was made of. I beat him easily after that. Robert was more concerned with talking to his cousins than paying attention to the game. I took it as an offense. He wanted to blame the loss on him being distracted. Ass!

Excerpt

All of a sudden, I was yanked to the side, and before I realized what was going on, my hands were locked around his waist and my face buried in the crook of his neck while he hugged me fiercely.

Oh, shit! I held my breath for as long as I could, but then my lungs won the fight. His scent hit me, causing me to whimper and shudder, and making my cock painfully hard.

“I know you always wanted to get out of here and you’re trying so hard to stay away. Showing you still love us won’t trap you in this town, little brother.”

Trevor had it all so wrong. He thought it was the town and life here that I was running away from. It wasn’t though; I was running from my twisted, perverted self. The more I stuck around him, the more I justified my urges. We weren’t related, not really. There was no blood connection. I was not a monster for loving him. It was all bullshit though. Not only had we been raised as siblings, Trevor had never shown any such interest in me. So the farther away I was, the less inclined I became to break down and tell him what I wanted. What I’d always wanted. What would be the point of that? I knew he’d reject me. I’d be selfish and force him to completely lose his little brother.

Despite the steady coaching, my body refused to comply, and I clung to him, breathing hard and almost bursting into tears. He pushed me back and searched my face. The deep frown that twisted his took nothing away from his beauty.

“Tristan, what’s wrong with you? You’re a mess, bro.”

The raw concern in his voice stabbed me like a burning knife, twisting my gut and making my heart bleed. “Sorry, Trev. Forget it, please. I’ve been under a truckload of pressure at work.”

He nodded and pulled me back into the hug, and shame exploded inside of me, promptly followed by a lust so savage I thought my starved cock would burst through my underwear and jeans.

A loud honk finally broke the spell, making me jump so hard I hit my head on the car roof. Trevor laughed and shook his head, probably thinking I was as clumsy and goofy as ever. What he didn’t know was that those traits were part of me only when I was around him. My sick obsession with him took too much energy and brain power, not to mention blood flow. There wasn’t much left to take in my surroundings and coordinate my movements.

EXCERPT

“Where do y’all live?” Cecilia asked once they were settled in the shade of a huge tree and had toasted Endless Love.

“Denver.”

“Serious? So what, you’re in town for Pride?”

“No,” Clark said. “We’re flight attendants. We’re on a layover. We were actually supposed to be working today, but San Fran-Denver canceled.”

“So you got married instead?”

“You think you’re surprised,” Tanner said with a grin.

“I think that’s adorable,” Tess said. “How long have you guys been together?”

Tanner smiled at Clark, then pulled his phone out of his pocket to check the time. “What’s it been, babe? An hour and a half?”

“Already?” Clark said. “Time does fly.”

Cecilia made a show of setting her glass down with a thunk. “Wait. You guys aren’t a couple?”

“Well, we are now.”

“We’re friends,” Clark hastened to add. “And you know, we’ve fooled around.” He reached for Tanner’s hand. “I’ve been wanting to be a couple.”

Tanner smiled. “A little bit I have, too.”

“Really?” Clark asked, visibly pleased by this revelation, as if Tanner hadn’t just legally hitched his wagon to Clark’s star like an hour ago.

“Really.”

Both girls were gobsmacked, but Tess soon said, “Well, you got that wish.”

Cecilia pursued the theme. “But you weren’t, like, boyfriends or anything?”

The hand-holding husbands shook their heads. Nope.

“Hadn’t even talked about it?”

Nope.

“And you married each other because…?”

“Well, you guys seemed to think it was a good idea,” Tanner said with a smile.

First Flight Out

First Flight Out Cover

Jesse Cisneros and his best buddy Tanner fly for Mile High Airlines, which is every bit as classy as it sounds. When Dr. Willis rings his call light on a flight from New York to Denver, Jesse is so taken with the good doctor’s looks and charm, he forgets all about the inflight medical crisis that prompted him to call for a flight attendant in the first place. Willis is handsome. Willis is helpful. And wouldn’t you know it? Willis is someone else’s husband.

Jesse can hardly believe his luck when their paths cross again on the patio of a popular gay bar. It’s been nine months, and Willis has been busy: now he’s single, he’s out, and he’s very interested in getting to know Jesse better. It all seems too good to be true! And you know what they say about that …

Excerpt

An hour later, Jackie sat in her office and watched the thin blond woman pace the floor in front of her desk.

“My husband is cheating.”

“Mrs. Kelly, I’ve had your husband under surveillance for six weeks. He doesn’t have a girlfriend. This is good news.”

The woman turned on her, frowning. “Well, your investigation is wrong. What kind of accreditation is CDI?”

“I completed the Certified Detective Institute requirements fourteen years ago. I’m certified in Indiana and all other states to work with individuals and law enforcement on investigative procedures.”“

A certificate on the wall doesn’t mean anything.”

Jackie stifled a sigh. “Mrs. Kelly, we discussed all the possible outcomes when I took your case. I’m sorry you’re not pleased with the results, but I assure you—”

“You’ll get your damn flat fee, whether you deserve it or not. I should have known better.”

Mrs. Kelly spun on her heel and left the office, slamming the door behind her.

“Boss, you okay?”

“I’m fine,” Jackie assured her assistant. She choked down a persistent emptiness that kept her up at night and overwhelmed thoughts throughout the day. For relief she pulled out a prescription bottle from the desk, and when the lid relented, she popped a Xanax without benefit of water. “When will the life insurance rep reschedule?” she asked.

“I hadn’t gotten the chance to tell you. The rep left a message on the machine this morning. He said background checks are on hold because of company cutbacks. Sorry, boss.”

“Sorry doesn’t pay the bills,” Jackie said, rubbing her eyes. “Now I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get bitchy.”

“You’ve still got the teaching job, right?”

“Yeah. Thanks to the dream analysis class, I won’t go hungry, and we can keep this place going, so long as you can hang in there.”

“I’m good for a while, thanks to my police pension. Can you do some psychic readings to help with the cash flow?”

“I’ve never done readings, and I never will.”

Excerpt

When I got to my apartment, I wasn’t feeling any better. I was restless and hurting and angry as fuck and their mixed scents in my place weren’t

doing me any favors. I fumbled with the backpack I had dropped on the floor of my living room, trying to find my phone. I was greeted by a dozen

or more messages from Vicks, one of my twin’s mates. Since she had mated my brother she had this weird connection to me too and could feel

whenever I was experiencing strong emotions for an extended period. I assumed everything that had happened since yesterday would qualify

for that. I sent a quick “I’ll be fine” type of reply to stop her from harassing me and went through my contacts.

Even if I hadn’t called that particular number in a couple of months, it was still at the top of my favorites list. He was my best friend since

childhood, so it made sense I’d call him more than anyone else. It just hit me then that I’d been so lost in my own life, I barely had time to catch

up with him or my family unless something critical was going on. I pressed the call button and plastered the phone to my ear, pacing around the

room as it rang a few times.

“Come on, Blake, fucking pick up!” I hung up and tried again. I really needed to talk to my best friend right now. It rang twice and went straight to

voicemail. Hearing Blake’s voice brought tears to my eyes and something snapped inside of me.

“Blake, I wish you’d have picked up the phone.” I laughed softly, shaking my head. “It’s funny, I think this is the first time I call you and you don’t

pick up. Either way… thanks for being my friend, chibi. I… I don’t….” I lowered the hand that was holding my phone and let my head fall back,

taking a few deep breaths. “Blakey, tell everyone I love them and… yeah, those who know me, really know me, will understand. Sayonara, chibi-

tan.”

I hung up and let the rage take over. I turned around at impossible speed and threw the phone with a loud roar. It hit the wall and shattered into

a million pieces. I was crying. I knew because I could feel the heaves and tears, but the crushing pain was battling with the anger taking over my

mind. I had lost my soul and my reason to live when I’d lost Kieran and Kayden. What was left of me was nothing more than the warrior inside. A

true samurai would not waste away, waiting for death to claim him at the end of a miserable life. He’d die in battle, an honorable death his final

legacy.

My twin, Shishou, my co-beta, Ren, my sister, even Blake… they’d get it, they’d explain it properly to my children. They probably won’t

understand, just like I hadn’t when my parents had left us. I prayed that unlike their father, they would never get to a point in life where they’d

understand this decision of mine. It meant they’d go through a world of pain and that was the last thing I wanted for Ryuu and Kimmie.

I took off everything but my jeans. No point in having anything else on. Werewolf rules were sometimes mind-boggling. You could shift into your

wolf and back, and you always kept one item of clothing. The picks were random and you might be left in nothing but your underwear. Or keep a

tight top and nothing else to cover your lower body. It was wise to choose your own clothes for the occasion. I then promptly flashed to the

weapons room in the Alpha mansion, right in front of the wall display of my father’s katana. I kneeled before it, my legs spread, and then bowed

deeply. Getting up, I closed the small distance between me and my objective and removed the katana. I glanced at the wakizashi he always

used to wear with his katana. Double sword, traditional samurai sign. I decided I’d use them both, just as he had in his final battle. I unsheathed

the two blades and adjusted my grip. With a final bow, I flashed out.

When I took form at my destination, a small shiver coursed through my body. It was pretty cold out here. Well, northern mountains in Mongolia

weren’t known for their excessive heat in the middle of autumn.

I had chosen Siberian Killer territory, the fastest way to pick a fight with other werewolves. The one rule they had was any shifter that stepped

foot on their territory would be killed. Here I was, standing tall, all focused, muscles bulging under the strain and excitement of an impending

battle, taunting whoever was nearby.

Recommended to me by a very dear friend who raved about the content, I have to say "T you were right" OH MY GOD I loved this story. The angst of a family friend falling in love with a member of the family that had taken him under their wing was addictive to say the least. Dante and Griff's story had me weak at the knees and pleading with the Author to "Please make Dante see what Griff's feeling" It hurt...Actually hurt my heart to read Griff's battle with himself over his feelings toward the friend he saw as a brother. The story as a whole was so well wrote and the characters were so real life I could just imagine them all sitting around the dinning room table pulling each others chains and running off at the mouth. I'm just sad that it had to end, because this was one story I could have carried on reading. Well worth reading, if there were more stars this would definitely be a ten from me. But for me...Angel that i am, i'm raking this with 5 Halo's....Beautiful story Damon.
